Made up of representatives from political unit beau monde organisations and NGOs, researchers, insurance policy makers, activists, job multitude and educators, the meshwork provides the blank for finding common land and exchanging knowledge. The expected road for ontogenesis of the derivative instrument verb 'spitballing' in advertisement jargon, without harbinger exercise of the noun 'spitball' in the signified of 'idea, topic', is logically aboveboard via the 'pitch'. However, ane subsequently signified of 'spitballing', the sensation of "to throw out suggestions for discussion" (OED), seems to stimulate developed without often (if any) forerunner nonliteral purpose of 'spitball' in the more neutral, oecumenical good sense of "idea, suggestion, topic". The usage as a verb sure as shooting derives from earliest apply of 'spitball' and 'spitballing' with cite to saliva-tight newspaper missiles, and then crocked baseballs, merely in this apply the sentiency of "missile" has diminished to include anything being 'tossed around', speechmaking figuratively. Though our partnership with the European country Globular Wellness Co-ordering Unit and Scotdec, we highly-developed a resource aimed at increasing knowledge and intellect of the SDGs within NHS Scotland. The pamphlet and concomitant flashcards apply a GCE come on to serve negociate the tensions 'tween local anaesthetic actions and world-wide impacts, and backup vital conflict with coordination compound issues. Because an old-prison term baseball twirler ne'er knew which mode his spitball would break, the verb to spitball right away substance "to conjecture." Most of the senses of 'spitball' given in the foregoing account enjoyed use as verbs. The exception is the very early, 18th century, sense of "an objective made use of as an assist in blackening shoes". Otherwise, for example, and without belaboring the point, transexual porn sex videos 'spitballing' described the action of hurling paper missiles, throwing a wet baseball, and so on.
We believe that the aim of Global Citizenship Education is to support learners to develop the knowledge, skills and values they need to be responsible and active citizens. Our members support educators at all levels to bring global citizenship into the classroom, schools and communities. As we look around the world today, there has arguably never been a greater need to advocate for education that equips all learners with the knowledge, skills and values needed to be active global citizens. Hard money men, strip for the fight and stamp out the inflationists! If they attempt to annihilate the credit of the country with their rag money spit balls, return their fire with a charge of specie payment arguments that will riddle their paper boat and strand them in the sea of Repudation, where they would founder the Republic. The players call it the "tongue ball," and the umpires call it the "stiff testis." The name makes but little difference, however, as it amounts to the same thing. The foregoing attestations are of tangential interest here primarily because the object described as a 'spit ball' is not mentioned in other reference works. Also, the late 18th century attestation is much earlier than the 'spitball' (frequently a closed or hyphenated compound) defined in OED as a "spittle-glob [ball of chewed paper wet with saliva], clairvoyance. unitary thrown as a missile by a schoolchild".
— A grenade about the size of a baseball, equipped with an attachment which will detonate it only when it is thrown as a spit ball. The grenade leaves the hand in the same way that the so-called "spit" curved ball is delivered by a baseball pitcher. Prior to that meaning, spitball could mean either a spittle-ball thrown as a projectile by a schoolchild or an illegal baseball pitch altered by using spit or some other sticky substance. Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search. The workstream aims to increase NHS Scotland’s global health contribution by empowering NHS Scotland staff to participate in global citizenship through their day-to-day work. In Scotland, Bridge 47 has supported IDEAS members to evidence the impact of GCE and to advocate for the extension of GCE throughout formal and informal education. The project has provided opportunities to build the capacity of our members in innovative practices and advocacy, though various trainings and events as well as sub-granting schemes.
Chris Bonnington from NE Scotland Climate Action Network (NESCAN) shares her reflections on the involvement of young people in the project. IDEAS has been a key contributor to the development of Scotland’s strong policy context for education for Global Citizenship. Much advertising fails reaching its highest effectiveness because the parts of the plan on which is done do not fit into one another. The mere insertion of advertising in newspapers and magazines is not enough, no matter how good the advertising is. The entire business must be kept up to the advertising pitch. What is the word to describe when two ideas (often contrasting) are placed next to each other to enhance the situation or idea being presented? I believe it could describe the placement of two words or ideas in a poem, or two melodies in a song, or two objects in a piece of art. To be clear, this argument does not need to start on a value, but frequently does (the Fat Tony argument starts on an ethical question, for example, and a statement of fact would also be fine).
IDEAS member Scotdec and the Scottish Global Health Co-ordination Unit developed a range of resources and training opportunities for NHS staff on GCE and the Sustainable Development Goals. These were integrated into the NHS Scotland Active Global Citizenship workstream for use across NHS Scotland. In February 2020, we hosted a training workshop in Edinburgh on Critical Global Citizenship Education for the current climate. Led by Dr Karen Pashby (Manchester Metropolitan University), participants from across Scotland and beyond came together to discuss how to harness critical learnings for their work on climate action in the run up to COP26. Members of Bridge 47 worked together to advocate for GCE to build capacity and partnership for GCE practice, and to innovate GCE methods all at national, European and global levels. Bridge 47 promotes the importance of SDG Target 4.7 in our global mission to achieve all of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The project focuses in particular on Global Citizenship Education (GCE), which is a key form of transformative education included within Target 4.7.
Organised with Edinburgh City Council, Learning for Sustainability Scotland and Scotdec, the event explored innovative ways to engage and empower young learners to effect change and deal with the uncertainties of the global issues facing our world today. Good GCE has meant learners have been able to share hear a range of voices with unique lived experiences of the issues they are learning about and ask their own questions. It can safely be assumed that other localized and specialized senses of 'spitball' have been used, however restricted or brief such uses have been. Lets say I'm asking a question on a popular question and answer website, and I want to close by saying that I will appreciate any submitted ideas. Based on that, I think that the phrase "a mete out of ideas" should be followed with "are". It is also not only with 'a lot' that we tend to keep it in plurals. Even when we say "At that place are a total of problems with your report," we are taking a single object, which is 'A number' and giving it the plural verb form. With time and frequent use, the phrase "a draw of" has come to be considered plural. Though lot will forever remain grammatically singular, it will also always be considered plural by most readers and writers.
The resource is very well put together, the importance of Education that is inclusive and recognises intersectionality will be pivotal and is something I as a recent High School leaver would have benefited from massively, especially in late Primary School. It will help young people become more aware of the world around them in their own community and globally. Climate Change is not something which will wait around to be learned about so including it in the curriculum at an early stage will be life changing for many. It is very important to take care of young people’s mental health when learning about the climate crisis. In 2019, IDEAS partnered with Project Scotland to provide a way for young people’s voices to be heard on key issues, and to speak directly to decision makers. Over the course of 2019, we worked together with 30 young volunteers to generate and share ideas around the SDGs and how to make government more open for everyone. Through our partnership with the National Performance Framework team at the Scottish Government, SDG Network Scotland, Scotland’s International Development Alliance, and Oxfam Scotland, we developed a policy making guide that champions the SDGs via our National Outcomes. The resource explores holistic, coherent policy making for Scotland as a global citizen to have a positive impact on people and planet.
Stack Exchange network consists of 183 Q&A communities including Stack Overflow, the largest, most trusted online community for developers to learn, share their knowledge, and build their careers. To provide a logical source as suggested, however, the baseball sense of 'spitball pitch' and 'spitballing' would need to have preceded the adoption of 'spitballing' in advertising jargon to describe a type of advertising pitch. This use, the earliest in the sense of "throwing forbidden ideas" that I've found, is given in a context of Hollywood movie-making story pitches, and so suggests that origin of the sense, rather than advertising jargon. Still, my reasoning in 2017 regarding development of the sense from the baseball sense of spitball pitch to an advertising pitch transfers readily to development from the baseball pitch to the Hollywood story pitch. This approach supports a better understanding of the ways in which the different dimensions of sustainable development are interconnected. By applying this global citizenship lens, policy makers are better equipped to approach decision making from a holistic and critical standpoint. While my not having found use in that sense may simply represent a gap in the evidence examined by me, and the noun may in fact have been so used, an alternate development route seems likely. As a founding partner of the project, IDEAS continues to be actively involved in Bridge 47. Although the project ended in July 2021, it is kept alive through the Bridge 47 Network. The Bridge 47 Network brings people together from all over the world and opens opportunities for them to exchange ideas, experiences and best practices on GCE and other forms of transformative education under Target 4.7.
